Biography
Cristopher Dry is a former Navy veteran turned freelance software developer and cybersecurity analyst, known as much for his technical skill as for his sharp, acerbic wit. He does not suffer fools gladly, and that edge tends to follow him everywhere, from client meetings to the occasional bar fight. With his emo goth aesthetic and guarded demeanor, he often leaves a strong impression before he even speaks.
He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Ezra and Constance Dry. A member of the Mississippi Choctaw tribe, Cristopher has only visited the reservation a handful of times. His parents moved away when he was still a baby so his father could pursue better opportunities as a hotel manager, while his mother worked as a school cafeteria employee. As the oldest child, Cristopher grew up carrying a quiet sense of responsibility. He pushed himself to excel, determined to make his parents proud and help lift his family out of poverty.
Academically gifted, he graduated early and saw military service as his most viable path forward. He joined the Navy and was stationed on the USS Abraham Lincoln during his first tour in the Iraq War. It was there that he met Jude Alvarez. Their connection was immediate, and their friendship quickly became the most important relationship in Cristopher’s life. Though Cristopher is pansexual and dated widely over the years, Jude remained his constant.
While in the Navy, Cristopher earned a degree in software engineering. After completing a second tour in Iraq, he returned home more jaded and disillusioned with military life. Jude had already been honorably discharged due to an ACL injury during that second tour, and their absence gave Cristopher the final push to leave the service himself.
Afterward, he worked briefly in California’s tech industry, including a stint at Oracle, but never felt at home. Eventually, he chose independence, building a career on his own terms.
