    Biography

Born into one of the most illustrious Light families in the wizarding world, Chester Coil was the eldest son of Winshaw Coil, a legendary ward maker whose enchantments still protect the highest levels of the Ministry of Magic. The Coil name is synonymous with magical security and innovation—particularly in the art of warding. His mother, Karlisen Tennant Coil, was a well-known heiress with deep ties to several old wizarding bloodlines.

Chester attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he was sorted into Gryffindor House. Ten years older than Kendis Rae, he grew up under the weight of expectation—an heir to a legacy of craftsmanship and service. However, unlike his father, Chester was never drawn to the meticulous craft of ward-making. Instead, he gravitated toward influence and strategy, showing an early talent for manipulation, politics, and persuasion. This divergence caused lasting friction with Winshaw, who saw Chester’s political ambitions as a betrayal of their family’s legacy.

Upon graduating, Chester joined the Ministry of Magic and quickly rose through the ranks. Charismatic, intelligent, and politically astute, he carved out a role as a Liaison between various departments, and after the war, he was appointed to the delicate position of Liaison between the Wizengamot and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. It was in this capacity that he met Kendis Black.

Initially, Chester admired Kendis’s intelligence and resolve. That admiration quickly grew into an unhealthy obsession. Despite her clear rejections—including turning down a date—Chester became increasingly fixated. His behavior escalated: stalking, leaving unwanted gifts, and closely tracking her personal life. The situation took a dangerous turn when the press outed Kendis’s romantic relationship with Josefa Vance, a fellow Auror.

Consumed by jealousy and rage, Chester broke into Josefa’s apartment and murdered her.

Kendis bravely testified against him, and Chester was sentenced to life in Azkaban. However, the conviction caused ripples across the Ministry. With an election looming and concerns about political fallout, his sentence was quietly overturned by the courts. He was released under secretive conditions.
