Biography
Iolaus, once a legendary warrior and steadfast companion to Hercules, has lived many lives across the centuries. In the age of gods and monsters, he fought alongside the demigod hero in countless battles, standing as both his sword brother and his heart’s confidant. Their bond, tempered in fire, loyalty, and love, proved unbreakable even as the world changed around them. When the gods granted Hercules immortality, Iolaus chose to share his fate, unwilling to be separated from the man who had long ago become his other half. Together, they walked out of myth and into the modern world.
In the centuries since, Iolaus has worn many names and lived many lives, adapting to every era with his trademark optimism and fierce sense of justice. In the modern age, he and Hercules settled in Los Angeles, drawn by its strange blend of glamour, chaos, and reinvention. Though the world had changed, Iolaus quickly realized that some prejudices persisted, especially the casual biphobia he and Hercules encountered in the very places meant to be safe havens. After too many nights of frustration with exclusion and judgment in West Hollywood’s nightlife, Iolaus decided to create something better.
Thus was born Miscellany, a queer bar on the Sunset Strip unlike any other, a place where mythic and mortal, queer and questioning, could gather without fear. Iolaus poured his immortal heart into every inch of it, decorating the space with mementos from his long life and the many worlds he has walked through. By day, he still helps people in need, whether fixing cars or fixing hearts. By night, he and Hercules can often be found behind the bar, laughing, and dancing.
