I’m on vacation and you would think that I would be on a sandy beach somewhere and not writing blog posts in my office. However, for me, my sanctuary in these tumultuous times is writing The Temporary Spouse.
I find myself sometimes when things are pretty tough in my life just daydreaming of Kendis and Tony. I have fallen so much in love with these clowns. I love them so much and the way they love each other.
It’s become a bit addictive, I’m not going to lie.
However, behind the scenes, things have been shaken up. I’m trying out a new copyeditor for my chapters because I have been having scheduling conflicts with Martha and it’s not fair to put The Temporary Spouse and my other original serial ‘A Vicious Thirst’ on Martha’s shoulders.
If everything goes well, Savanna will be new copyeditor for the With the Ring series. Now, you maybe asking: Gigi why in the hell are paying a copyeditor for your fanfic? The reason is that I am dyslexic and I need a consistent editor to untangle my words. As you can probably tell from my most it’s full of sentences with missing words and typos.
The thing about dyslexia is that when you are writing you think that you are making sense and then re-read your words and it’s a jumbled up mess. I have long since trying to fix that about myself and just started investing money into editors.
And I tend to have the worst luck with beta readers both professionally and with fanfiction, so I tend to just pay outright for editing. And this is not me shitting on beta readers. I love them but life tends to get in the way and I know beta reading my stories is like the last thing on their priority list. I get it because lord knows I have been in that position.
All of this to say: is that the With This Ring series is getting a new copyeditor and I’m really excited!
Speaking of change, I have just deleted at least 5 chapters from my previous drafts and this means that the end of The Temporary Spouse is about 11 chapters away. I will have a lot of chapters buffered and ready to go because, by my calculations, this story should be done by the end of the year.
I am also changing a few things and making the series as a whole a lot less canon compliant for Harry Potter. I have been re-reading some of my old favorite Drarry fanfic stories and I got a few ideas.
I can’t tell you what is going to change because that would spoil it but It’s going to be a fun ride nonetheless!
