Last night, I finally hit 100,000 words for the entire series. This series is three times bigger than Playing Hero, which is my most popular fanfic story to date (and hilariously enough is a trans Harry Potter/Batman crossover), but it is also the longest piece of fiction I have ever written. My Sleepy Hollow retelling, Splinter, is 39,000 words.

If someone had told me back in 2019 that I would have written 100,000 words for an entire series, I would have thought you were completely mad. By the way, The Temporary Spouse is currently at a whopping 63,000 words. It just blows my fucking mind, because this is way beyond what I thought I was capable of.

However, this shows the power of trauma (this fic is my coping mechanism) and hyperfixation.

All of this is to say, that I’m not going anywhere. I already have at least six months of content ready to go and I have three other books planned in the series with the book covers to match.

Book 1: The Temporary Spouse (Pre-Iron Man 1)
Book 2: The Perilous Husband (Iron Man 1)
Book 3: The Formidable Spouse (Iron Man 2)
Book 4: The Dynamic Couple (Avengers 1)

And I am already 20k into The Perilous Husband. It’s going to be a fun ride but my calculations I won’t be done publishing The Temporary Spouse for a year and a half. I am absolutely an utter fucking nerd with a very detailed notion/wiki for this project that has its own branding and everything. I also spent some time doing some word count calculations as well.

The only reason that I’m not posting them right now is that I’m dyslexic and I need to have my betas to go over them before I feel comfortable sharing them with the public.

So the point of this post is to assure you that Kendis and Tony are not going anywhere for a long while and I have a pretty clear view of the long road for us. Now, this is where I admit that my characters often get a mind of their own and will deviate but I got enough wiggle room in my schedule to course correct.

I just want to take a moment here to discuss something else that has been on my mind. The trans community much like other marginalized communities is not a monolith. And I once was one of those trans people who thought the best way to fight against J.K. Rowling and her bigotry was by making her irrelevant but after HBO Max and Warner Brothers decided to not only give her a video game but a whole tv reboot of the series.

I realized that was a futile fight and I changed my mind. I decided to use J.K. Rowling’s platform against her by not only publicly promoting my Harry Potter fanfic but to using that fanfic to promote trans charities and mutual aid funds. I have been accused by other trans people of using that as an excuse to just hang on to Harry Potter longer.

And honestly, they are free to have their wrong opinion. I don’t buy Harry Potter merch, I don’t watch the movies, or read the books. I have been pretty consistent in not giving J.K. Rowling a single dime of my money since 2019. And if that ain’t enough for you? Then feel free to block me and keep it moving. I feel that instead of putting my head in the sand and pretending Harry Potter doesn’t exist.

No, I want to make J.K. Rowling uncomfortable in her own fandom and I know for a fact that homegirl reads her own fanfiction. I want to piss her off so much that she sends me a cease and desist order (I already have plans to print it out and frame it). The appearance of Kendis is not an accident either. I purposely made Kendis resemble Imane Khelif.

I’m here for two reasons 1) To uplift and fundraise for my community (the trans community) and 2) To write a version of Harry Potter fanfic so radical that will make her scream in fury.

And do you feel some type of way about that? Well, Block me. I’m not going to stop, I’m not going to feel ashamed, and if you think that I’m betraying my community because of this? Then die mad about it because I’m not stopping.

This is my declaration that I’m here for the long haul and the With This Ring series is here to stay.
