Scene: There is a pretty plus-size Black woman with long locs dressed in a blue dress sitting at a circular desk in front of a blue and white news background.

Maryanne: Good morning, Los Angeles. I am Maryanne Macdonald with your morning news.

Our top story this morning is the attack on the Pacific Design Center last night. Police reports say that Tony Stark was accepting the award at nine o’clock last night when there was a report of smoke in the ballroom.

*An image of Tony Stark on a red carpet pops up next to her.*

Maryanne: KNIX 13 reporter Armando Soto is reporting live from the Pacific Design Center. Armando?

*The picture of Tony disappears, and a young Latinx man standing in front of a red, blue, and green modern-style building holding a microphone replaces it.*

Armando: Thank you, Maryanne. Witnesses say that the ballroom in the Pacific Design Center erupted in smoke last night.  Award goers fled in the middle of Tony Stark’s acceptance speech.

*The video switches to a pretty blonde woman standing in front of the Pacific Design Center at night. In the background are cop cars and EMTs.*

Witness: “I was inside the ballroom at the Pacific Design Center when it happened. One second, Tony Stark was mid-speech, the next there was smoke everywhere, and people started rushing for the exits. It got chaotic really fast.”

* The video switches back to Armando.*

Armando: Rumors suggest anti-war protesters are involved after controversy arose regarding Stark’s Apogee Lifetime Achievement award amid war profiteering accusations. As of now, the LAPD has not released any official comment.

However, this morning, Tony Stark’s attorneys issued this statement:

*Text from Mr. Stark’s statement appears on the screen*

Mr. Stark is saddened and disappointed that someone would take this opportunity to harm innocent people. Both he and his companion Kendis was not harmed and got out of the venue safely. Mr. Stark eagerly awaits more information from the authorities and hopes the people who are responsible are quickly brought to justice.

Armando: We’re on top of this and will update you as soon as we have more on this situation.
